ACES Jeddah and ACES Khobar successfully completed the marine (offshore) geotechnical investigation for the Reverse Osmosis Plant in Shoaiba, Saudi Arabia. The Shoaiba power and desalination plant is an oil-fired Combined Cycle Gas Turbines (CCGT) power and desalination complex on the coast of the Red Sea, about 120 kilometers South of Jeddah. It is considered one of the world's largest fossil fuel power plants, and the world's third largest integrated water and power plant. ACES scope of work included drilling six boreholes to a depth of 10m below seabed, conducting extensive laboratory testing including sieve analysis, classification, Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS) and direct shear, as well as detailed environmental testing of the soil and water samples. The project utilized the marine jack up pontoons and rotary drill rigs available in the ACES Saudi Arabia fleet. The main contractor was Fisia Abeima LLC. and the owner was Saline water Compression Corporation SWCC (SWCC).

ACES is pleased to announce to its clients the introduction of the sophisticated Lambda Heat Flow Meter for measuring the thermal properties of construction materials, in compliance with ASTM C518, ISO 8301, JIS A1412, DIN EN 12664 and DIN EN 12667. Heat flow meters (HFM) are exact, fast and easy-to-use instruments for measuring the thermal conductivity (λ) of low conductivity materials. Thermal properties of materials such as thermal conductivity/resistance and U value can be determined using the heat flow meter. The equipment is suitable to carry out the test on a range of materials including but not limited to masonry blocks, sandwich panels made of masonry block and polystyrene, PU foam, and AAC blocks. Recently, the thermal conductivity/resistance measurements become an essential parameter for Green Buildings properties. Heat flow meter testing is available through our offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
