ACES Jordan Completes the Offshore & Onshore Site Investigation for the Industrial Terminal in Aqaba

31 Jul 2016

ACES Jordan has recently completed the offshore and onshore site investigation for the rehabilitation and extension of the Industrial Terminal in Aqaba Southern shore in Jordan. The site investigation was carried out for the new offshore dry bulk jetty and the associated onshore connection/structures with land.

The scope of work in this project included drilling of six offshore boreholes to depths ranging from 30m to 50m below the seabed surface where the maximum water depth was about 15m, in addition to drilling of two onshore boreholes down to 35m below the existing ground surface. Undisturbed samples of coral and conglomerate were obtained using wireline Geobor S core barrels to obtain large core size (sample diameter ~ 102mm), in addition to conventional T6-101 core barrels. Extensive field and laboratory testing were also carried out for this project.

The project owner is Jordan Industrial Ports Company, the consultant is Royal Haskoning DHV and the contractor is UTE TR PHB Jordan (Joint Venture between Tecnicas Reunidas, SA-PHB Weserhutte). 1_2.jpg
