21 Sep 2015

ACES Dubai was recently awarded the geotechnical investigation for the prestigious landmark project Museum of the Future, located next to Dubai’s Emirates Towers near its central financial district. The $136 million shiny, ovular building is set to open in 2017. Its curved steel-clad exterior will feature the Arabic poetry of Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The scope of works in the project includes drilling of 8 boreholes to depths ranging from 40m to 80m below existing ground surface, performing cone penetration tests (CPTs), excavation of trial pits, and geophysical logging including multichannel analysis of surface waves (MASW), down-hole and cross-hole tests. In addition, field tests were carried out including packer permeability and pressuremeter tests as well as installation of standpipe piezometers.

The client is Meraas Development and the consultant is Buro Happold Engineering.
