ACES Abu Dhabi-Business Excellence Center for Survey Services

ACES Abu Dhabi Business Excellence Center for Survey Services has recently added Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey to its field of activities. With its new RD1000 GPR, ACES Abu Dhabi will be able to provide better and more accurate results to their clients in the field of underground detection services. The new Ground Penetration Radar comes as a powerful addition to the existing Radio Detectors, which have been used for underground detection surveys. The radio detectors are useful for locating the conductive utilities. They are used in locating the metallic utilities and getting the depth of them. However, they give poor results in locating non-conductive utilities and fiber optic cables. This becomes a disadvantage since there are no particular locations for conductive utilities only.

ACES Holds a Training Course on Pavement Performance Evaluation

Both Dr’s. Izz Eddin Katkhuda and Ibrahim Asi arranged two training courses for Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) and Ministry of Public Works and Housing (MPWH) Road Maintenance Departments Engineers entitled “Pavement Performance Evaluation”. The course included topics were: Highway Maintenance & Rehabilitation, Maintenance Management Systems - Concept & Components, Pavement Condition Evaluation, Flexible Pavement Surface Distress, Project Level Inspection & Selection of Maintenance and Rehabilitation Alternatives, Pavement Performance Evaluation and crack sealing and Maintenance Techniques. The courses included field training where attendees evaluated some deteriorated road sections, calculated the pavement condition indexes (PCI), and found the required maintenance strategy. Each course was attended by twenty five engineers and road maintenance supervisors.
