Course in Asphalt Mix Technology in Sudan
A five day training course was held by ACES in Khartoum – Sudan between the 7TH and 11TH April for highway engineers representing several public authorities, consultants and contractors in Sudan. The course covered the latest developments in the philosophy of asphalt mixes and mix designs, the desired properties of bitumen and aggregate gradings, the asphalt mix designs, superpave, production and compaction of asphalt mixes, technical specifications and quality control of asphalt mixes, rutting resistant mixes, and fatigue resistant mixes. The course covered laboratory and practical sessions which was given by Eng. Ibrahim Khawaldeh, while the theoretical part was lectured by Dr. Izz Eddin Katkhuda.
This course is a result of continuous cooperation between ACES and “Constructional and Environmental Labs Center” of Sudan. Few other courses are in the pipe line.
